Your Source of Power
The ability to return to the proper
position for ball striking, starts at the "COIL FOOT" - AKA the "Foundation"!
NO
FOUNDATION = NO POWER...You
may as well be standing in quicksand.
Your
right foot (left for lefties) is just that
the
"Foundation" of a good and powerful swing.
Visualize a coil spring, that you are trying to coil
up. Now visualize the base of that spring un-anchored to something.
It just does not have the ability to coil or load
torque.
 |
The loss of a great amount of power is caused by letting
your "Coil Foot", roll to the outside on
take-away. Try to visualize the inside of your "Coil
Foot" (from the big toe to
the heel - see the red arrows) bolted to the ground, not allowing it roll to the outside
during your back swing. This also gives you a good
solid foundation to push off from on your forward
swing. This is the source of most of
your power.
If you are looking for more distance,
this is a must.
If you are looking for balance, this
is a must.
If you are looking to hit the sweet spot...
this is a must! |
Once
you let your coil foot sway to the outside on take-away,
you have to be extremely lucky to get your body back
into position to be able to get the club-head back
to the ball squarely and on-line and with any power or balance.
To
improve this, take your 7 iron and a bucket of balls,
and concentrate on just that one thing. Eventually
you will find yourself making much more solid contact,
because of "new found" balance and power.
It may take five to six hundred balls to ingrain this
into your swing without having to think about it.
Pre-swing
thought - Think Solid "Coil Foot" and Balance
Ooooonly!
Until you have it ingrained to where it just comes
natural, don't think of trying to kill it, or any
other of a 100 negative thoughts
